Brit & Aric - Elopement Wedding
Hello friends, welcome back.
It’s been a while since I have put one of these together, so I thank you for coming here to take a break for a minute to have a look. I’ve done lots of blog entries showcasing all sorts of weddings over the years, but I don’t believe I have ever put the spotlight on an elopement. It seems fitting that now would be a great time to showcase that type of wedding.
Brit & Aric wanted things simple, even before things got really really complicated. They weren’t really big into the idea of having great fanfare and a large wedding. They just wanted a beautiful spot, an intimate atmosphere, and a few of their closest to share it with.
If you’re looking for an intimate atmosphere, this is it. The bride and groom chose to get married in a beautiful little spot just outside of Salmon Arm, called the Tin Poppy Resort. This little gem of a getaway is perfect because you have your choice of 4 cabins to pick from. Whether you like a rustic feel or a modern one, your amenities are second to none and are in the best hands with Maggie and her team. They just recently built an outdoor reception/event building to accomodate your parties AND they even take care of food, decor, and cakes if you need that too. Oh and did I also mention the amazing views?
It is THE perfect place to get married. Especially now.
This was so special for them and they picked just the right people to share it with. They had just their closest family and friends by their side to witness their union and celebrate with them, a very small and close group. The love and bond these two share was on proud display and their devotion and affection for one another was amplified every time they simply looked at one another. It gave ME butterflies!
Brit & Aric were married by Sue Cairnie. I have worked with her a few times now and every time I do, I am always filled with joy because she is so calm and naturally wonderful with her couples. She also knows what a photographer needs, too. She is lighthearted and easily brings laughter to the couple and the crowd. I look forward to working many more weddings with her in the years to come.
We are currently living in a time where having great big parties and celebrations of our love with our families and friends is considered dangerous and that truly fills my heart with sadness. BUT, that doesn’t mean we still can’t celebrate, we just have to do it in a low-profile and more intimate way for now. This wedding shows that you can still have all of that without sacrificing much at all.
Lots of people are having to re-evaluate their wedding plans for this year due to the restrictions of large groups and the safety risks involved during this health crisis. Some are postponing their wedding, while others are cancelling their big celebrations altogether and just going with something really private instead, based on what the restrictions allow. Some people however, won’t be deterred and are thinking outside of the box, finding ways to celebrate in the most unique and beautiful ways. I will have the pleasure of capturing a few of these weddings this year and look forward to showcasing love on the time of Corona.
If you are one of the Brides & Grooms who have had to shift your plans for this year, I empathize with you and hope that you can find a way to celebrate your love in a way that feels safe. If and when that moment comes, I will be here, ready to capture it all <3
Until next time,
P.
